I was raised by a broker (my mom). I started in the business at eight years old, getting paid to get the phone message “just right.” Of course, that was in the days before answering machines. The red phone was for business calls only, so we called our friends on the green phone. Hmm, maybe, she was playing a more sophisticated game of red light - green with us? I started working in her office after school in 1978 and continued to work there on and off for 10 years. I got my real estate license in 1988 and have been selling real estate full-time ever since. I also succeessfully raised two beautiful daughters, my most important achievement, I’d say. I have a passion for traveling, so, when time allows, I’m an avid globetrotter.

Hi. My name is Cherie Miller. I'm originally from Iowa, with a detour through La Crescenta, California. I started selling real estate back in the early 70's, when answering machines, cell phones and computers weren't even on the radar. Things were a little less stressful then and a real estate contract was just one piece of paper with a few sentences! Living in Yucca Valley has been one of the best experiences of my lifetime. Here we have it all: a great climate, friendly people and wonderful prices. Cherie Miller & Associates has been in the same office location since 1993. Every day we strive to earn the respect of our clients. My daughter, Madelaine, is now the Broker of our offices. I’d say she is a natural, since she's been answering real estate phone calls since she was eight years old! Back in those days, she would get a quarter for every phone number that she wrote down correctly when taking a message. She learned well and I’m very proud of her.

I first discovered the high desert in 2004, while attending a meditation event for world peace. Upon leaving the event, I saw a For Sale flyer, stopped the car and said to my friends, "I think I must buy that house!" My friends reminded me that it was my first time in Yucca Valley and we were not even sure where we were. It was at the height of the real estate market and I thought, "My goodness --- five acres of dirt in California with a house on it for $200K! I must have it!" Then, there was the opportunity to move to Hawaii to sell vacation ownership properties, but "difficult" tenants in my rental property in Yucca Valley led to my returning in January of 2007.
I’ve been involved in real estate since the 1970s, serving as a realtor and investor in the residential field, as well as marketing and support positions with developers and liquidators. I’ve seen markets boom and bust, have been involved in 'bank-owned property" fiascos and have seen fortunes made and lost.
I’m happy and grateful for the opportunities to serve clients here in the high desert. It's a great environment for first-time home buyers and investors. Joining the Cherie Miller & Associates team has been one of the highlights of my business experiences here. Madelaine is a brilliant, hands-on broker who encourages team work and always puts the client's needs first.
In this turbulent market, I encourage all to Keep the Faith and to (re)read the old classic, THINK AND GROW RICH! It was written in the 1930's for people living during a similar economic environment. We must all support each other during these troubling times, and creatively work together to survive, thrive and prosper!
